Woo Hoo!

Last night, I had my first show at the Laugh Factory w/ the improv team. It. Was. Awesome.

The crowd was very appreciative, and there were several great moments. It was a time. Bam.

Wish Me Luck, Folks

Tomorrow's going to be a big day.

I have callbacks for Shrek the Musical in the afternoon. For Shrek.

I owe a big thanks to Kelleigh, who shot my audition video last week; I wouldn't have gotten this far without her.

In other news; my first improv show at the Laugh Factory is Saturday night; I'm thrilled. It's one of the biggest comedy clubs in Manhattan. So that's going to be neat.

Be well, folks. More to follow.

One For The West Wing Fans

Since I spotted Alan Rickman, a week hasn't gone by (I think) where I haven't run into someone famous. I hope the trend continues, it keeps me on my toes and it's also just plain neat.

Tonight, it was Allison Janney. It's been raining buckets all day; and I was in no position to stop her on the street to say "Hi, I loved you in West Wing, blah blah blah". So I didn't.

Still. Worth mentioning.

I Heart NY

After a decent practice today with the improv group; a few of us went out for a late lunch/early supper dealy at a deli on 47th. Who walks in but Brian O'Byrne? The guy's done a number of shows on Broadway and he's in a terrific independent (I think) flick; Easy. He won the Drama Desk Award for his work in Doubt.

I debated w/ my fellow improvisers whether or not to go up and say hi, and they agreed that it'd be okay to step up. I didn't want to bother him or nothin'.

I walked up, said "Excuse me sir, I just had to say I loved your work in Easy." He was actually surprised that I'd seen it, considering its limited release. I shook his hand, we talked for all of thirty seconds, I said thanks and left.

So that was neat.

Taking Steps!

Tomorrow, my penciller begins in earnest on issue #1 of All Fall Down. My comic. That is going to be published. Because it, I, and Arcana Publishing rock.

I can't wait.

Curse You Meddling Kids!! (And Your Dog, Too)

Charles Van Onselen, historian, claims to have identified Jack the Ripper.

I love a good mystery as much as the next guy. I really do. But I can't help thinking it's a teensy bit retarded to go around saying "I know who Jack the Ripper was!" when there is absolutely no way to prove it. The name of the game is 'circumstantial evidence that's over a century old'.

Even theories, at this point, are little more than shots in the dark. A book was published a few years ago theorizing that an artist of some renown at the time was behind the slaughter; since (among other things) he claimed to have painted Jack the Ripper's picture-- referring to his self-portrait. (Kinda clever, that.)

In any case: short of a time machine or a signed confession w/ explicitly accurate details of the events (ew); we're never going to know for sure who was behind it all. Which is fine. People like an unsolvable mystery, provided it's interesting/confounding enough. It doesn't hurt that "Jack the Ripper" is the single greatest name for a mystery man, ever.

That's all I've got for now. Ciao, folks.

I Love Tina Fey

Seriously. I love Tina Fey. I love her.

No, I've never met her. I am merely speaking on behalf of her work. And her look. And her delivery. My holy god. I love Tina Fey.

I loved her on SNL. I love her on 30 Rock. She's freaking brilliant. Ber-rilliant.

I say "I love her on" these shows because she wrote the shows on which she spoke. She's just... wow.

If only she were single. Which she isn't. She's married and has a kid, according to IMDB and whatnot.

But yeah. I'd totally marry her. A lot.
